Have you ever wondered which paint colors are the most popular from Sherwin-Williams? They’re the largest paint company in the entire world…surely their top selling colors must be good!
Sherwin-Williams does not release this information directly, so it’s difficult to determine the Top-10 with 100% accuracy. I’ve created this list by rounding up the 10 best selling Sherwin-Williams paint colors from the top peel-and-stick paint sample company, Samplize.
Spoiler: Sherwin-Williams did reveal their #1 selling paint color, and yep, it’s the bestselling paint sample on Samplize also.
So be sure to read through to the end to see which is their most popular color.
For each of the 10 popular Sherwin-Williams colors, I’ve listed all the undertone & LRV details as well as photos of the color painted in real spaces to help you decide if you may want to try the color in your own home.

Most Popular Sherwin-Williams Colors
Here’s a list of the top 10 most popular Sherwin-Williams paint colors for 2024, from Sherwin-Williams popular gray colors to the best neutral Sherwin-Williams colors, these are the most loved colors by the top paint brand.
We’re kicking off the list with #10 which is… Extra White.
10. Extra White (SW 7006)
Extra White – LRV: 86 (LRV, or Light Reflectance Value is a scale commonly used by design professionals where 0 = absolute black and 100 is pure white.)
Extra White is a good all-around neutral white paint color. It’s best suited as a trim and ceiling color, but it can be a good choice for walls as well.
I would use this as a wall color in a room where I needed a very basic white paint to help keep the focus on other colors in a room.
Extra White has an LRV of 86, which means it’s extremely light, bright and very close to pure white. The color appears as a true white, no matter the lighting – it has very few, if any undertones.
There are plenty of white paint colors with higher LRV’s, but they have a tendency to look stark, boring, muted, and are easily washed out with lots of natural light.
Even though it’s a no-frills white paint, the color is fantastic and it defiantly deserves a spot on this list.
“For a clean and crisp look, this white does the trick. Its high light reflectivity makes it an ideal choice for trim and ceilings.”
Sherwin-Williams
9. Mindful Gray (SW 7016)
Mindful Gray – LRV: 48 (LRV, or Light Reflectance Value is a scale commonly used by design professionals where 0 = absolute black and 100 is pure white.)
Mindful Gray is Sherwin-Williams’ ninth most popular paint color. However, they’re so much larger than most other brands, that this color is probably more popular than the #1 color from almost any other brand!
Mindful Gray is a medium dark gray with mild brown undertones. This color is a great fit for bedrooms, common areas, and kitchens.
With a LRV of 48, this is the darkest paint color on this list. It has a ton of color depth, and it’s a bold, excellent paint color.
The warm brown undertones are perfect for rooms with tons of natural light, or rooms with natural wood finishes & decor, or a warm color palette.
Mindful Gray is recommended in my gray paint color roundup – Best Gray Paint Colors.
Pssstttt…a better way to test paint colors on your walls 👇🏻
Before we get too much further into this list of the most popular Sherwin-Williams colors, I need to let ya know about my all time favorite way to sample paint colors…
The hack? Peel-and-stick paint samples!
Gone are the days of purchasing all of those tiny paint cans and painting big squares of different colors on your walls!
For the easiest, no mess way to test out paint colors, check out these Peel-and-Stick Paint Samples from Samplize.
Sale alert! Right now you can get 2 samples for FREE, when you purchase 8 or more.
Plus, if this is your first time ordering from them, you can use my code: JOYFULLY5OFF to get an additional $5 off your first order. (And yes, you can stack this with the bundle deal going on! #booyah)
I love that their peel-and-stick samples are made with 2 coats of REAL paint and the large 9″ x 14.75″ size gives you a good idea of what the actual color looks like on your walls. Plus it’s big enough to wrap around a corner which can be really helpful depending on the area you’re planning on painting.
After learning about Samplize, I use their peel-and-stick samples for every painting project! They have *almost* every paint color from all of the major paint brands.
Ok, back to the list of Sherwin-Williams top colors…
8. Light French Gray (SW 0055)
Light French Gray – LRV: 53 (LRV, or Light Reflectance Value is a scale commonly used by design professionals where 0 = absolute black and 100 is pure white.)
Light French Gray by Sherwin-Williams is a beautiful light gray paint color. It’s very neutral and has minimal undertones – because of this, Light French Gray is an extremely versatile color.
“With its terrific balance of warm and cool tones, this light gray is a robust and versatile hue that can lend any space a timeless vibe.”
Sherwin-Williams
In my gray paint color roundup article, Light French Gray makes the cut, (look for it in the Cool Gray section in the post.)
In the image below, I love how Kylie M Interiors contrasts Light French Gray wainscoting agains a pure white wall above. This really makes the gray pop and adds interest to the small space.
7. Accessible Beige (SW 7036)
Accessible Beige – LRV: 58 (LRV, or Light Reflectance Value is a scale commonly used by design professionals where 0 = absolute black and 100 is pure white.)
Many beige paint colors have brown and yellow tones in their color composition. This can make beige a difficult color to work into an existing color palette.
As the name implies, Accessible Beige is very accessible. The infusion of gray undertones makes this beige easier to work into a cohesive design in variety of room styles, and lighting conditions.
In fact, this is the most popular beige or greige paint color right now. And for good reason, it is stunning!
“Unlike many beiges, this color has undertones of gray that can give your space a warm, snug feel. Pair with earthy tones.”
Sherwin-Williams
6. Snowbound (SW 7004)
Snowbound – LRV: 83 (LRV, or Light Reflectance Value is a scale commonly used by design professionals where 0 = absolute black and 100 is pure white.)
Snowbound is well-rounded, light neutral white paint color. It strikes a nice compromise between light & airy and complex & sophisticated.
This paint color is ideal for rooms with tons of natural light, and it’s especially well suited for southern light exposure.
“With its slight gray undertone, this versatile cool white pairs well with other gray-influenced colors. Like stepping into a snowy glade.”
Sherwin-Williams
Snowbound is included in two of my other paint color guides: Best Paint Colors For South Facing Rooms, and also in Best White Paint Colors For Walls
Snowbound is one of the best Sherwin-Williams paint colors for cabinets. You can see just how stunning it looks in the kitchen below.
5. Sea Salt (SW 6204)
Sea Salt – LRV: 63 (LRV, or Light Reflectance Value is a scale commonly used by design professionals where 0 = absolute black and 100 is pure white.)
If you’re looking for a little variety, this is the only paint color in Sherwin-Williams Top 10 that is not white or gray.
Sea Salt is a beautiful yet subtle green with mild blue undertones. It’s one of the best green Sherwin-Williams paint colors because it’s such a calming color. And although it’s pretty unique, it could fit nicely into a cohesive design color palette for any room.
“This cool, muted green with blue undertones makes every day feel like a relaxing beach day. Set it off nicely with white trim.”
Sherwin-Williams
4. Pure White (SW 7005)
Pure White – LRV: 84 (LRV, or Light Reflectance Value is a scale commonly used by design professionals where 0 = absolute black and 100 is pure white.)
Sherwin-Williams’ Pure White is a nice light & airy whole home color. This is the brightest white wall color I would still recommend.
Pure White has just enough warmth and color to appear comfortable, and not stark, cool, and washed out.
“This versatile, bright white has the slightest yellow undertone that keeps it from appearing too stark. Use on trim for the perfect complement.”
Sherwin-Williams
3. Repose Gray (SW 7015)
Repose Gray – LRV: 58 (LRV, or Light Reflectance Value is a scale commonly used by design professionals where 0 = absolute black and 100 is pure white.)
Coming in at #3, Repose Gray is a light, neutral, true gray paint color by Sherwin-Williams. This is actually their second most popular gray paint color (and quite possibly the second most popular gray paint color in the world).
If you’re looking for a light gray paint color that is simple, doesn’t have strong undertones, and has the classic look of true gray – this is probably your color!
“Tranquil tones and soothing warmth make this light gray a great choice in almost any space. For a complementary trim, pair with Eider White.”
Sherwin-Williams
2. Alabaster (SW 7008)
Alabaster – LRV: 82 (LRV, or Light Reflectance Value is a scale commonly used by design professionals where 0 = absolute black and 100 is pure white.)
Alabaster is one of my absolute favorite white paint colors. I don’t think I could actually single out a true #1 because there are so many amazing colors, but this color easily makes my top 5.
In fact we used this color in both of our RV remodels! You can see tons of photos of each of those spaces here.
With a LRV (light reflectance value) of 82, Alabaster is still light and bright, but it has more undertones and complexity than the truest white paint colors like Extra White (#10 on this list).
I would classify Alabaster in the true white paint category, but has just enough undertones and depth of color that it’s close to being an off-white.
Alabaster is a near perfect white paint color. It’s light and airy, neutral, and very versatile. Jackie Jordan, Sherwin-Williams’ directer of color marketing, describes this color as…
“neither stark nor overly warm, but rather an understated and alluring hue of white.”
Sherwin-Williams
Looking for some dreamy bedroom decor inspo? Alabaster is one of the best Sherwin-Williams paint colors for bedrooms, as proven in the gorgeous bedroom below.
So what is the most popular color for Sherwin-Williams??
You may have guessed it… Agreeable Gray!
1. Agreeable Gray (SW 7029)
Agreeable Gray – LRV: 60 (LRV, or Light Reflectance Value is a scale commonly used by design professionals where 0 = absolute black and 100 is pure white.)
Not only is Agreeable Gray the most popular gray paint by Sherwin-Williams, it is Sherwin-Williams #1 most popular paint color in general. And for good reason…
Sherwin-Williams took a classic gray, added some brightness, a little warmth, some beige undertones, and maybe a little bit of magic. What they created is essentially the perfect gray paint color!

If you’re reading this, you’re probably planning a painting project soon. So we’ve listed our favorite painting tools & resources that we love below, including how to get paint on a budget and our favorite hack for painting ceilings!
How To Get A Great Deal On Paint
Did you know that you can use budget friendly paint, and have it color matched to premium Benjamin Moore or Sherwin Williams paint colors? At Joyfully Growing Blog, we always use Glidden Premium paint from The Home Depot.
Glidden Premium rivals the quality of the top paint lines from Behr, Sherwin Williams, and Benjamin Moore.
Any paint store, or home improvement store with a paint section will be able to match colors from most major brands. This means that you can select one brand of paint, but get it mixed in any color you want!
In many cases, affordable paint like Glidden Premium can be up to 50% cheaper than the ‘big name brand’ competition. This can save you a ton of money!
Our Go-To Painting Supplies
- Paint brushes – I recommend ‘Pro Grade’ paint brushes, they’re the perfect budget friendly option. This set comes with both flat and angled brushes to get every nook and cranny. I LOVE the quality and, in my experience, they’re much more affordable from Amazon compared to in-store prices. You might be surprised how cheap this professional quality 5 Brush Set is on Amazon (it’s less than $10!).
- Paint rollers – Cover more surface area with a handy roller.
Tip: I love this one for tall walls or ceilings, it has an extendable handle.
- Paint sprayer – Paint brushes and paint rollers will get the job done, but for serious efficiency and productivity, you cannot beat this Graco Magnum Project Plus airless paint sprayer (Amazon). I personally own this paint sprayer, and have used it on tons of painting projects.
It’s an excellent quality sprayer, and powers through any painting projects in a hurry. Painting with an airless sprayer makes it easy to complete projects in much less time.
- Drop cloth – Skip the mess and grab a reusable drop cloth instead. This will come in handy for future projects. Just pop it in the washing machine after you’re done painting and it will be ready to go for the next project.
- Multi-surface painter’s tape – I always use this brand of painter’s tape, it’s great for smooth or lightly textured walls, trim, baseboards, tile, or even glass. It sticks quick and is easy to remove.
- Sanding sponges – For smoothing and prepping surfaces, you’ll need a couple of sanding sponges in different grits.
