Today I am sharing all of the details from our rustic-made-modern master bedroom. I’ve shared a few photos of this space before on Instagram as well in the DIY Wood Plank Wall post, but I wanted to invite you in for a full reveal tour.
So without further ado, come on in and see how I blended two styles to create the modern rustic bedroom of our dreams!
As you first walk into our room, it seems very light and bright with white walls, white curtains and white bedding.
I love the look and feel of bright and airy spaces, yet I also crave cozy texture that makes you want to snuggle up with your favorite blanket and a good book. And that’s where the accent wall comes into play…

This wood plank accent wall is one of my very favorite projects that we’ve done since moving into our home. (To see exactly how we did it, checkout the full step-by-step tutorial here.)
I love the rich warm texture it brings to the space, adding the perfect amount of rustic to this otherwise modern room.
With the dark wood accent wall, I chose to keep the rest of the decor fairly light and neutral. Our linen duvet cover is from Target and I love that I can easily throw it in the wash to keep it looking fresh.
The 3 Euro pillows are also from Target, the lumbar pillow is from World Market and the small burlap one is from Amazon.

I added one of my favorite falsa blankets to the foot of the bed to give it a casual look. It’s also handy to have an extra throw within arms reach for those chilly nights.
Ours is a souvenir from our honeymoon in Cancun, but here is a similar option.

Our nightstands are from World Market. My eye was drawn to the midnight blue color and I love how they look against the wood wall.
I swapped out the drawer pulls for some fun brass knobs from Home Depot. This was an easy and budget-friendly way to customize the look and make them unique.
The gold lamp is from Target and has a touch-sensitive feature making it a perfect bedside lamp. I can’t stand fumbling around for the switch in the dark, so being able to turn it on by touching the base is a lifesaver! A stack of books and some faux greenery finished off the look.
This cute little banner is from TheJulietRose etsy shop. The owner and I worked together to come up with a custom design featuring one of my favorite verses from the Bible. I absolutely love how it turned out!

For our bed frame, we went with a platform style from Amazon so that we could utilize the space under the bed for storage. This bed was the best deal I could find for our King size mattress and I am completely obsessed with it!
The quality you get for the price is amazing! We bought ours over 2 years ago and it still looks brand new. I have been convincing all of my friends to buy this bed because it’s just THAT good! Check it out for yourself! You won’t regret it. 😉
With the bed being raised off the ground, I was able to use long narrow baskets to store extra linens and still keep everything looking organized. These baskets are from Hobby Lobby, but here are some similar ones from Amazon.
The rug is from Target and offers a cozy feel for our tired feet at the end of a long day.
On the wall across from our bed are two doors; one leads to the master bath and the other to the walk-in closet. Since most of that wall is broken up by the two doors, I kept the decor in the corner really simple.
Two of my favorite hats are hung on the wall, and underneath sits my snake plant which I’ve lovingly named, Vern. (What’s that? You name all of your plants too? I knew I liked you 😉 )
I get asked all the time about the planter that Vern sits in, so here’s the scoop: the white ceramic pot is from Lowe’s, and the wood stand is a custom order from Etsy. I couldn’t find either of them online, but here are some similar options (white pot / wood stand).

Looking back across the rustic bedroom from where Vern sits, you can see our dresser (as well as the entry door).
We bought this dresser for our first apartment several years back. It has served us well, but it isn’t my favorite. At the time, it was the only option we could afford that was big enough for what we needed. Someday I hope to swap it out for a higher quality dresser made of real wood. I’ve been keeping my eye out on Craigslist for the perfect one, but until then, this one gets the job done.

I decorated the top with some artificial flowers placed in a glass jug from Goodwill, a canvas of our favorite wedding photo, and this sweet sign from TheSincerelyUs etsy shop. (Use code Joyfully20 to save 20% on anything in their shop!)

And that pretty much completes the tour! Thanks so much for joining me today as I revealed how I blended my two favorite styles (light/bright & rustic). Together these two styles created a modern rustic bedroom retreat, and we love it! Even our dog, Sage, is a fan 😉
